Submitting Your Photos
Photos must be submitted by email or you can send a link to a full resolution image stored somewhere on the web. Note that many photo sharing websites do not retain full resolution images.
Submit all photos to MINIoftheMonth@gmail.com. Photos submitted to any other address may not be received.
Photos posted on the MINI of the Month Calendar Facebook page are not entered into the selection process unless also submitted to the designated email address.
Submit full resolution, unedited original photographs to allow the most flexibility in fitting the photos to the calendar format. Leave the resizing, editing, cropping and color correction to the calendar producer.
*** Each submitted photo must be accompanied by a descriptive caption (100 characters or less) and the first initial and last name of the photographer or person submitting the photo. Photos submitted without caption and photo credit information will be returned with a request for this information. If the requested information is not received by the end of the photo submission period the photo will not be included in the vote process. ***
A caption typically includes descriptive information about the Mini (e.g., year, model, name, etc.), the location, the setting, the event, or any other information that might be of interest to a viewer of your photo. Submitted captions may be edited for length, format and consistency with other captions included in the calendar.
Photos which will not result in a sharp, clear, high resolution image in the printed calendar will not be accepted.
Some photos may be edited to remove extraneous objects, e.g., telephone poles and wires or background objects that detract from the photo.
Photos can be in almost any format your camera can produce, including raw formats, but .jpg is preferred.
By submitting a photo, you are certifying that you give us the rights to publish the photo in the calendar or, if you did not take the photo yourself, that you have secured the right to publish from the photographer.
Photos should not include watermarks, dates or comments. If they are included, they will be removed.
Determination of the order in which the winning photos appear in each month of the final calendar will be made by the calendar producer.
Photos which have appeared in any previous MINI of the Month or CarNut's Garage Calendar are not eligible for the calendar in any subsequent year, but any previously submitted photo which was not selected for publication may be entered again.
*** Each person may submit up to 10 photos. If you have more than 10 photos, pick the very best 10 to submit. If you submit more than 10 photos, only 10 will be entered into the voting process. ***
If you have several similar shots, choose your favorite and submit that one. Including two or three photos that are similar will reduce the number of votes each receives as compared with just selecting the best single photo from the set of similar photos.
Winners are limited to no more than one winning photo per person published in the calendar to maximize the number of people who have photos published in the final calendar.
The calendar cover is a collage displaying many of the photos submitted, including some not selected for display on a full size calendar page. An attempt is made, where possible, for each person submitting photos to the calendar to have at least one photo printed somewhere in the calendar, either as a full page winner or as part of the cover collage.
The calendar manager will be the final judge for determining any photos deemed to be unacceptable for the calendar due to quality, resolution, format or subject matter.
